A tongue burn is a common ailment. Typically, the condition occurs when drinking or eating food that is too much hotter than expected, can result in burnt tongue. Pain, redness, swelling, and blisters are the most common symptoms of burnt tongue.

Even a mild burn on the tongue can cause unpleasant feeling and lot of discomfort when you consume something warm.

If the burn is severe, you must go to the doctor immediately.

1. Having something cold

Suck on an ice cube is the best option, if you don’t have ice cubes then try to take small sips of cold water. Another option, you can eat your favorite ice cream or drink some cold juice.

2. Yogurt

Yogurt is the best natural remedy to provide the instant relief from the pain and discomfort. You just eat half cup of cold plain yogurt. Eat a little and keep it in the mouth for few seconds then swallow it. Repeat the process until you eat all yogurt. Drinking the cold milk is another option to heal burnt tongue.

3. Honey

Honey is another best remedy to heal the swelling and reduce the pain. You just spread 1 teaspoon of Manuka honey over the tongue. Allow it to sit on your mouth for long as possible, and then swallow it. Follow this process 2 or 3 times in a day.

4. Sugar

Sugar is also another simple home remedy to treat burnt tongue. You just put 1 teaspoon of sugar on your tongue and allow it on your tongue to dissolve. People with high blood sugar cannot use this remedy.

5. Vegetable Glycerin

Vegetable glycerin is a natural soothe of burnt tongue. You just spread some amount of vegetable glycerin on the tongue. Allow it to sit as long as possible to bear its taste, then split it out. At last, rinse your mouth with water. Follow this process 2 or 3 times in a day.

6. Mint

Mint has antibacterial properties so it helps to prevent burnt tongue effectively. You just apply some amount of mint toothpaste over the tongue. Keep out your tongue from your mouth and wait for dries the paste. Then, wash your mouth with cold water. Follow this process 2 or 3 times in a day. Another option, you can chew mint gum from time to time.

7. Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E oil is a natural soothe of burnt pain discomfort, it speed up the heal process of tongue tissue to regenerate. You just open a vitamin E capsule and apply its liquid on the tongue surface, spread it all over burnt area. Follow the process 2 or 3 times in a day.

Additional Tips

Avoid drinking and eating hot things.

Avoid eating spicy and acidic foods.

Avoid drinking alcohol based products.

Try to keep your tongue moisturize by drinking water.

Chew the gum or suck hard candy that stimulates saliva production.
